Blenheim Palace Wedding Photographer

Blenheim Palace has been decorated and furnished with the finest tapestries, porcelain, paintings and stone work which provide a most spectacular backdrop for your documentary wedding photographer in Oxfordshire.

The mother of all wedding venues, Britain's Greatest Palace, which was made a World Heritage site in 1987, is home to the eleventh Duke of Marlborough and his family. Situated in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, the stunning baroque palace sits in 2100 acres of parkland with gardens and a lake designed and built by Capability Brown in 1760.

Queen Anne gifted Woodstock Manor and funds, to build Blenheim palace, to the first Duke (John Churchill) because of his military success against the French and work started in 1705 but was not completed for another 25 years. Of all the Dukes, the ninth made the biggest impact on the estate which included restoring and replanting the grand avenue and entrance (he planted half a million trees), restocking the library with ten thousand books and adding to the interior furnishings, particularly furniture. Winston Churchill, grandson of the seventh Duke and born at the Palace in November 1874 was a lifelong friend to Sunny, the ninth Duke of Marlborough.

The Orangery has the advantage of having its own entrance and terrace and is licenced for civil ceremonies. Overlooking the immaculate Italian gardens, the Orangery can seat 180 guests. It is equipped with a bar and can be hired exclusively until midnight. The exquisite and light interior with tall, arched windows and glass ceiling, enable your documentary wedding photographer in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds to work their magic.

The Great Hall is entered via two huge wooden doors and this magnificent room can seat 150 for dinner.

The Saloon (the State Dining Room) can seat 75.

The Long Library was originally designed as a picture gallery but now houses ten thousand books and the imposing Willis organ at one end. The 55 metre long room can seat 300 and overlooks Blenheim's lake.

These rooms can happily be used in conjunction with one another or independently, for example, the Great Hall and Saloon could be used as the reception and dance areas whilst the Long Library is designated for dining.

The Marlborough Room, which was originally the Palace kitchen, is also licenced for civil ceremonies and can seat 60. The double vaulted ceiling rises the full height of the building with lots of natural light - perfect for Allister's style of documentary wedding photography.

The Indian Room is decorated with beautiful murals representing India. The room overlooks the water terraces and would make an intimate venue for up to 50.

A marquee on the South Lawn can be erected and used in conjunction with a licenced room for your Oxfordshire wedding.

Their very professional in-house events and wedding planning department will help you make the most of the Palace's beautiful and historical features including, for example, arranging for fireworks over the lake or a Military Tattoo in the Great Hall. Blenheim's catering team only use quality local ingredients and experienced staff to produce the finest dining experience.

As a wedding photographer often working in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, this is one of Allister's favourite wedding venues in the region.
