Family Photo Shoots

I create most of my natural family photo shoots outdoors and in a variety of locations - I have so many favourite forests, coastlines and parks across Wiltshire and the South West for these very relaxed portraiture sessions. 

I’ve been a professional family portrait photographer for many years working with many families and children of all ages, as well as plenty of babies and newborns.

Unlike most family portrait photographers, I aim to avoid anything staged or forced. Instead, I photograph my photo shoots in the same natural and authentic documentary-style that I apply to my wedding photography.

I want your family portrait photography to be as honest and believable as possible. Images from my family shoots are mostly black and white as I find it helps to convey the genuine personalities, atmosphere and fun over and above colour, which can often be distracting.

That said, I do appreciate a beautiful colour portrait, especially when working with families in amongst nature during Spring and Autumn.

The Paterson’s

Family Portrait Photography Session Fee ~ £500

My session fee includes a £100 booking fee; required to secure the date. Remaining balances are due one week prior to the portrait session itself.

The session fee is based on a location shoot in the Wiltshire countryside. I’m happy to travel across the UK and overseas for an extra charge to cover additional expenses and time.

My session fee does not include prints or products, all of which can be purchased on your website, following the session. Scroll further down to see options.

Family photo shoots typically last between 60 and 90 minutes. Following portraiture sessions, I provide families with a carefully curated collection of the best, natural portrait photographs that represent them as both individuals, and collectively as a family. This is typically anywhere between 75 and 150 perfected images, presented on your own, dedicated website and cloud storage platform, online indefinitely; allowing you to order and download files, printing, framing, as well as produce beautiful albums or books

Adding Products To Your Session

You can tailor your family portrait photography session further by ordering products such as print-ready files, framed prints, albums and books from your website, following the photography session.

All pricing shown includes design, production, shipping and tax.

Albums & Books

Families often choose to have a selection of their favourite images from their photo session, presented in a beautiful album or book. Album and book options start at £450.

Framed Prints

Printed on either Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre or a fine art matte paper, and finished in either natural oak, black or white, my framing process uses the very highest quality materials and techniques; with each frame designed to stand the test of time for generations to come. Framing starts at £100.

Unframed Prints

Printed on either Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre or fine art matte, both designed to not degrade over time; prints are available in a variety of sizes and formats, individually or in a cost-effective print-pack. Printing starts at £10.

My natural family photo shoots usually involves a day outside and my best portraits tend to occur when we're visiting local nature reserves, adventure playgrounds or just favourite family spots. I do this so that your children (and you!) are utterly pre-occupied during the family portrait photography session, this allows me to shoot very natural, relaxed and fun family photography.
