An alternative and environmentally friendly wedding venue in Gloucestershire, the Matara is set in 28 acres of wonderful Cotswold countryside close to the town of Tetbury. It is an oasis of calmness created by the clever use of Eastern aspects of architecture and beautifully landscaped parkland and gardens incorporating water, bamboo, trees and grasses to create the sound of nature and spaces for meditation. The grounds include a Shinto inspired woodland and walled herb garden together with a meditative reverse spiral and seven sided labyrinth. The wishing yew tree is very popular with guests and provides many opportunities for photojournalist wedding photographers in Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.  

Part of the ethos of the Matara wedding venue is that it works with nature and so it has very green credentials including the use of one hundred percent green electricity, the consumption of which has been reduced by three quarters due to the use of the correct building materials. Waste water is recycled by processing it naturally through their reed bed system. The Matara will advise you on how to keep your own wedding environmentally friendly, if you so wish, and couples are given a tree to plant in their Unity Parkland which will add to their carbon neutral account.

There are many beautifully appointed and artistically decorated areas in the Centre and the grounds to select from and their in-house planners will guide you through the process to achieve the most meaningful civil ceremony to you. There are six areas which are licenced for civil wedding ceremonies but, on hiring the centre, you will have exclusive use for the period and they do advise you visit them before booking.

Hilarium is the largest space and can seat 150 wedding guests. The star studded blue dome with windows under, the design of which is based on sacred geometry, allows light to flood the room and creates the perfect conditions for documentary, natural wedding photographers in Gloucestershire.
