Abbey House Gardens Wedding Photos | Wiltshire

I recently documented Chis and Lucy's amazing wedding at the beautiful Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury, home to the Naked Gardeners.

To couples planning a wedding in Wiltshire, I honestly cannot recommend a nicer place to be married. Firstly, the venue and gardens are nothing short of stunning but most importantly, it's such a relaxing place to spend a day. I truly felt like a guest just wandering around; incredibly chilled.

There's something special about this Wiltshire wedding venue.

The gardeners themselves with their incredible attention to detail and acute awareness of how important it is for each wedding to be unique - not just a carbon copy or template of the last successful one (an unfortunate habit of some busy wedding venues) make each wedding a one-off.

The type of customer that it attracts is also very special - Chris and Lucy are possibly two of the warmest and down to earth people I've worked with and I had an absolutely fantastic time documenting their day.

All of these elements added together make for some of my favourite images created this year.

Please enjoy and I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Natural wedding photography at Brympton D'Evercy

Venue: Brympton House I first met Rob and Liz last year when they came over for a coffee at the studio and they have been a pleasure to get to know ever since. A few weeks prior to their wedding we met up at Savernake Forest, a stunning area close to the village where we're based and the perfect location for engagement photoshoots. This is another great chance to get to know one another and only serves to help me photograph them during the wedding.

Liz and Rob's incredibly friendly, quintessentially English wedding took place at the beautiful Brympton D'Evercy in Yeovil, Somerset - an ideal backdrop to accentuate the classic design of the wedding.

I had the help of my very talented associate wedding photographer Joshua Archer during this Somerset wedding. Joshua works to the same ethos and has a very similar style in terms of making the picture and post-production.

Documentary Wedding Photography in Wiltshire – Part 2

Part 2 of Emilie and Jamie's wedding in Wiltshire. Please enjoy and feel free to comment.

I was recently asked which photographers inspire me to create my particular style of documentary wedding photography.

So, a few words on my inspiration...

Despite there being some amazingly talented wedding photographers around, I try and source my photographic inspiration from beyond the wedding scene. The work of Sam Abell for instance, a fine art documentary photographer, plays a huge role in how I frame and structure my images. His images are always beautifully composed and balanced and he has an exceptional skill for 'layering' the subject matter to strengthen narrative, his images therefore demand a more thoughtful and penetrating interpretation.

Elliot Erwitt's quote "Its about finding something interesting in an ordinary place" is pertinent and describes my ethos perfectly.

But I am probably most mesmerised by Martin Parr's photography, representing society with his unique style, in an often unflatteringly honest but very amusing light. But most importantly for me however, his work is so much more than just aesthetics, it's a study of people, of human behaviour, an aspect I always apply during my wedding coverage. A pretty picture is just that, pretty, a picture can and should be much more.
