Wedding Photography at the Corinthia Hotel

I documented Will and Fiona's intimate wedding in London late last year. My reportage wedding photography started at The Corinthia Hotel in South West London, The Corinthia is a very new and very exclusive hotel just off the Embankment, it's nothing short of stunning and I really look forward to working there again.

From there I travelled with Will by cab to The Chelsea Potter pub to meet guests. This London wedding comprised of no more than fifteen people, so it had a very relaxed and friendly feel. The Chelsea Potter is a proper old London pub too which only encouraged this great atmosphere - reputedly this was the Stone's local back in the days. It's a pretty dark environment but great for candid photos and within half an hour we we're all on our way to Chelsea Old Town Hall - another magnificent building steeped in history. The registrars were very accommodating, as per usual, allowing documentary coverage to continue throughout the civil ceremony.

Our next location was Chelsea Wharf where we embarked on our two-hour boat trip along the Thames. I probably do four or five weddings a year on the Thames and they never disappoint, people are always very relaxed because of the lack of formality and during the winter you can really make the most of the strong, low and warm light.

The end of the day and the end of my reportage wedding photography coverage saw us arrive at South Bank - a particularly brilliant place for photography in London. Fiona, Will and their family and friends spent the rest of the afternoon in the Skylon restaurant at the Royal Festival Hall with its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Thames.

Asian wedding photography in London

Diane and Shri split their London wedding over two days so it had a really nice and relaxed pace. There was no rushing around, no stress, no pressure, everyone just settled in and enjoyed themselves. As with many of my wedding photography in London, Shri and Diane invited only their very closest family and friends.

Their first date involved a visit to Old Marylebone Town Hall - a venue I know very well indeed and am particularly fond of not least because of the professionalism and open-mindedness of its registrars. In fact, they put many of the country's registrars to shame; often no wedding photography is permitted and the reasons behind this seem to change depending on who you talk to. It's a great shame as essentially they're just a supplier and yet they stamp their impersonal touch on the day. It's out of touch and unbelievably conceited - exactly the kind of behaviour that you wouldn't expect on a wedding day. When you make your enquiries be sure to research your registrar's policy on wedding photos.

After the civil ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall we all walked ten minutes down the road to a fantastic Chinese restaurant on Baker Street called Bright Courtyard - a place I will certainly be frequenting. My coverage ended with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

Two days later we all met at Number 4 Hamilton Place in Mayfair. Number 4 is a stunning building as you'd expect, with a large, sweeping and central staircase leading into impressively grand yet intimate rooms; it's also the home of the Royal Aeronautical Society. This was more of an intimate dinner party than a wedding reception which I understand is exactly what Diane and Shri had in mind. The evening went without a hitch with some particularly emotional speeches before, during and after the meal.

I feel privileged to have had the chance to work with and get to know Diane and Shri as well as their delightful family and friends.

Below is just a little of my favourite London wedding photography from both days.

Natural Wedding Photography at Gildings Barn | Danny & Mike

Dani and Mike's wedding ceremony took place in the little village of Capel near Dorking in Surrey, just a few minutes from the family home.

Their afternoon drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations all happened in and around Gildings Barn in Newdigate, also in Surrey.

Gildings Barn provides the perfect environment for more intimate and relaxed documentary wedding photography, and Mike and Dani's was just that. Not even the torrential rain we had that afternoon dampened spirits.

This good, positive vibe continued right through to the end of the night.

It was great fun to cover and especially good to get to know this charming couple's closest friends and family.

Here is just a little of my favourite Surrey wedding photos from the day.
