In This Moment | Let's Dance!

One of my favourite first dance shots of all time. This was a very dark environment - a marquee with a black ceiling and very little in terms of ambient light directed on the front of the couple.

The stage lighting, which was continually rotating to the music, as well as the reaction the groom is giving to the crowd, came together perfectly in this one split second. The resulting photograph takes me right back to the moment, instantly and with absolute clarity, despite this image being created almost 7 years ago! The power of good documentary wedding photography.

The cameras I use now would have rendered this image with much more precision, more clarity and less noise. For me, however, it's more about that split-second moment and how an image makes you feel, even this many years on.

In This Moment | Winter Sun

Winter sun makes for beautiful wedding photography. Fortunately, in this instance the bridal party walked towards the church with the sun directly behind and overhead, giving the group of girls perfectly back-lit conditions. In terms of substance or more 'moment', the three layers really put the girls into context wonderfully - the father of the bride in the foreground and the horse and carriage further back, aided by a gentle leading line on the right of the frame.

This subtle storytelling, timing and composition are what makes this image a particular favourite of mine.

In This Moment | It's Time

A nervous few moments immediately before Nathalia walked to her ceremony in the chapel on the beautiful grounds of Babington House in Frome. I love the moment captured here but also the tones of this image are just stunning, it prints beautifully.
