Documentary wedding photography at the Radisson Edwardian, Canary Wharf

I recently documented Gemma and Leon's elegant wedding at the Hotel Radisson Edwardian in Canary Wharf, London.

The Radission Edwardian in Canary Wharf is quite simply stunning, I'm not overly keen on new venues but the layout of the Radission really lends itself to my style of reportage wedding photography. The available light is exceptional and the rooms and corridors are cleverly thought out - there's always potential to create more dimensional, layered images with the merging spaces and competing viewpoints in one form or another.

Being on the river makes it ideal to take couples for a five to ten-minute walk for portraiture and fortunately, on this day, we had beautiful warm winter sun during our walk.

I'm so pleased with Gemma and Leon's London wedding photos, their ceremony overlooked the 02 Arena and their drinks reception took place in the mirrored hallway and gallery bar before guests were called into the main room for the wedding breakfast, speeches and evening entertainment.

It was quite an emotional day for Gemma's family and I felt truly privileged to be part of it and to get to know them all.

Hey Allister

Wow.....is all we have to say...

Thank you so so much from the bottom of our hearts, you have told our story down to a tee.

They are perfect in every way and more than we could have hoped for!

Natural wedding photography at Bix Manor

I'm delighted to feature some more reportage wedding photography documenting another chilly, low light winter wedding.

Ross and Annabelle's intimate day was perfectly planned and took place at Bix Manor and the stunning countryside surrounding Henley on Thames in Berkshire. It's been one of my favourite winter weddings to cover recently, not least because of how charming both families have been to work with.

Before the big day I got to know the couple a little more during a pre wedding photo shoot, these are incredibly useful in order to build rapport prior to the wedding. If you're interested in adding a pre wedding shoot to your wedding photography package, which can take place in a variety of locations, simply get in touch.

Ross and Annabelle's traditional wedding ceremony took place at St Margaret's Church in Harpsden and was swiftly followed by a warm and cosy wedding reception at Bix Manor, just ten minutes drive from the church. Bix Manor was the perfect choice for the couple as it is superbly and professionally run, actively encouraging a natural and relaxed atmosphere.

Below are just a few favourites from my Henley on Thames documentary wedding photography.

Documentary wedding photography at St Etheldreda's Church, London | John & Maria

John and Maria got married at the stunning St Etheldreda's church in East London late last year, their ceremony wasn't until quite late in the afternoon so it's a perfect example of how I approach an extremely low light documentary wedding photography without ruining the atmosphere with flash.

Their religious ceremony took place in St Etheldreda's candle lit chapel and thankfully I was allowed to discreetly document the service as the light, although incredibly low, was beautiful. Their church service was swiftly followed by a drinks reception in St Etheldreda's crypt - an amazing location for a London wedding.

Again, the room had been thoughtfully filled with candles which created pools of light for guests to mingle in, environments like this allow you to be even more discreet as a reportage wedding photographer.

The whole affair felt incredibly warm and friendly. Subsequently, everyone had a great time and really relaxed which allowed me to capture some very authentic and natural wedding photography.
