Lou & Will's Wedding at Elm Farm Organic Research Centre

Will and Lou's DIY wedding at Elm Farm was an immensely fun day to cover! In fact, I've been itching to blog this beautiful wedding for quite a few months, having photographed it last Halloween!

The reason behind this is I've been designing and building this new website we're on now. Anyone that's done this will be all too aware of how time-consuming a task it is!

Back to this lovely Berkshire wedding... I first worked with Will and Lou during their engagement shoot on Greenham Common on the outskirts of Newbury. It's an absolutely stunning area of heathland that I happen to know very well, thankfully we had incredible weather for the shoot which took place last spring.

These shoots really are the best way for us to get to know each other a little more before the big day. I don't put people in awkward poses or expect them to run towards (or even acknowledge) the camera - it's just a walk and talk and the wedding photography is simply a biproduct of this.

The wedding day all took place in Berkshire with a small church service swiftly followed by a very fun wedding reception at the Elm Farm Organic Research Centre.

For me, one of the best things about getting married in October is the light, it's just beautiful! The low, warm winter sun that creates so many different tones, angles and shadows, ideal for documentary wedding photography.

The Halloween theme was carried off perfectly with Lou and Will's (but mainly Lou's) attention to detail being well worth the effort.

Here are just a few of my favourite natural wedding photos from this Halloween themed wedding in Berkshire.

Portrait Photography Session in Savernake Forest, Wiltshire

John and Beth's very candid engagement shoot took place in the stunning Savernake Forest on the outskirts of Marlborough in Wiltshire. These shoots are always very natural, I only give couples as many directions as I feel they really need. No cheesy shots. no uncomfortable posing - just a walk in the forest and the bi-product of that walk is beautifully natural portraiture.

Here are just a handful of my very favourites from the 45-minute shoot.

A Winter wedding at Orchardleigh House | Darren and Emily

Darren and Emily's wedding at Orchardleigh House in the beautiful Somerset town of Frome was possibly the wettest and darkest that we documented in the whole of 2012!

I photographed this intimate little wedding day alongside my latest Long term student Isabel and despite the hideous weather, it was an incredibly warm and rewarding commission to work on.

Fortunately for all involved, Orchardleigh House is the ideal wet-weather venue. It has so much indoor space and furthermore the layout of this dimly-lit space really lends itself to discreet reportage wedding photography. We work extensively at Orchardleigh and it's certainly one of our favourite Somerset wedding venues.

I met up with Emily and Darren last Autumn in the stunning Savernake Forest near Marlborough in Wiltshire for a small engagement shoot. A few of my very favourites from this little Wiltshire photography shoot and their memorable wedding day are below.
